Santiago Gamboa (born 1965) is a Colombian writer.[1]

Biography[edit]
Born in Bogotá, he studied literature at the Javerian University of Bogotá. He moved to Spain, where he remained until 1990 and graduated in Hispanic philology at the University of Alcalá de Henares. He then moved to Paris, where he studied Cuban literature at the Sorbonne.
He made his debut as a novelist with Páginas de vuelta (1995); later he wrote Perder es cuestión de método (1997), which was translated into Italian, French, Greek, Portuguese, Czech, and German. Later he published Vida feliz de un joven llamado Esteban (2000). He is also the author of the travel book Octubre en Pekín (2001).
In 2009, Gamboa published Necropolis, a novel that won that year's La Otra Orilla Literary Prize. In 2012 the novel was published in English by Europa Editions.
As a journalist, he has been a contributor to the Latin American Service of Radio France International in Paris, a correspondent for El Tiempo and columnist for the magazine Cromos. He lives in Italy.

Una bonita historia entre Occidente y Oriente. El protagonista es un ejecutivo norteamericano de origen colombiano, llega con cierta soberbia de yuppie a China para dar cursos a empresarios locales. A lo largo del libro se produce una transformación del protagonista, con algunos aprendizajes vitales que siente y que comparte con tres personas: una mujer china, un ejecutivo chino y un periodista occidental con el que bebe a diario en el Hotel Pekín. Toca temas universales, de una manera simple y sencilla a través de las reflexiones del personaje principal. Tiene varios pasajes interesantes.

Es una historia sobre el típico clase media colombiano que logra triunfar en EE.UU. y sufre de ese efecto de olvido de sus raíces, esa parte de la historia es muy interesante porque plantea una critica muy buena. El resto del libro va sobre la sinología de Santiago, manda al protagonista a China y allí lo cambia radicalmente, por fortuna Santiago incluyo a Ming Cheng, el personaje que hace que el libro no se vaya a la alcantarilla. Un libro muy ameno y que pone a pensar en las diferencias entre las culturas. Deber�an leerlo aquellos que piensan que 'globalizaci�n' quiere decir 'poner a todo el mundo a pensar y actuar igual que los Estados Unidos de Am�rica'
